Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for its Alamo, TN location. Your Responsibilities: Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development, test, installation, and service while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, Bill of Materials, and other pertinent information. Prepare specifications and related documents according to requirements, established formats, and general instructions. Review and analyze various engineering data, documents, and reports. Consult with other engineering groups to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application and recommend revisions as appropriate. Investigate technical problems and establish procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences. General concentration of activities by allocating close to 40% of the time to customer focus and commercial orders, about 30% to product care, and 30% to operational troubleshooting and field support. Assist senior Engineers in preparing drawings/specifications, material and design selection, quotations, licensing and safety documents, and obtaining required approvals. Using state-of-the-art CAD, develop 2-D and 3-D models of components and assemblies for prototype, production, and retrofit builds as required. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product design and performance. Ability to learn basic numerical tolerance calculations and stack-up analysis. Your Background: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical engineering or related field and 5 to 7 or more years of experience; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments. Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States. Working experience with Pro-E or any 3D CAD modeling software is highly desired but not required. Working experience with Windchill data management or any PLM software is highly desired but not required. Preferably, they have some experience developing electromechanical products (preferably with power transformer components), which is highly desired but not required. Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, engineering principles, and best practices.
