Job Description

The Barrie KOA is currently looking to hire in our Night Watch department. Individuals who have a passion to provide exceptional customer service, have patience, a strong work ethic, and are seeking an opportunity that provides individual growth. We will have opportunities for Night Watch staff who prefer a night shift, working evenings, till 1am on a rotating schedule throughout the summer season. 

Position Summary: The Barrie KOA Night Watch position is a key "front line" contact for the campers. The Night Watch provides guest services, information, runs the nightly checks and assists with resolving minor customer complaints and any additional administrative duties that may be assigned by Management. They maintain a quiet safe environment for all guests, and are familiar with safety and security procedures. 

The night watch maintains a calm, courteous and professional demeanor at all times regardless of the guest's behavior. At times, the job may be stressful due to interaction with many different people with different types of personalities, and being expected to perform multiple tasks quickly. Personal qualities that a Night Watch is expected to have in order to do the job successfully include: attentiveness, a well groomed appearance, initiative, loyalty, maturity, respect for confidentiality and discretion, a positive attitude and dependability.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Provide superior customer service by being enthusiastic, attentive, friendly and helpful. Handle all guest issues with respect. 
  • To contribute to the organization and operations by following all KOA guidelines and procedures.
  • Work in all weather conditions both indoor and outdoor. 
  • Greet all guests with a positive attitude and well-groomed appearance, a smile, recognition and a proper KOA uniform and name tag.
  • Report all guest problems, requests or complaints to the owners, campground manager or shift supervisor and follow-up to resolve the issue if possible.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Campground Manager.
  • Comply with all federal and provincial safety programs by adhering to established guidelines as set out by Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations as they relate to the workplace ensuring your safety, as well as that of fellow staff and campground guests.

Qualifications:

  • Have experience in this field. 
  • Previous work experience dealing in customer service positions with high levels of stress is an asset. 
  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills. 
  • Be able to be on their feet for a full shift, up to 4 hours or more. 
  • Be flexible with their schedule. Working primarily night shifts, as business levels require. 
  • Must have valid G license 
  • First Aid & CPR training 
  • Speaks the English language fluently. French would be an asset.
  • Application must be able to complete mandatory training in April, prior to season start. 
  • Must be able to work exclusively evenings & weekends May - October. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate over the phone. 
  • Long periods of standing, bending, and kneeling.

Wage & Hours: 

  • Starting wage $18.25
  • Part-time work 
  • May, June, September & October - weekends 7pm or 9pm - 1am. 
  • July & August 3 - 4 days per week 7pm or 9pm - 1am. 

Expected Results:

  • Demonstration of a positive attitude with guests, management and team members.
  • Well-groomed appearance and appropriate KOA uniform and name tag.
  • Attention to detail when dealing with camper issues. 
  • Careful, honest and accurate reporting. 
  • Promotion of Barrie KOA and the entire KOA system.
