Aquila's Fitness Specialist -Tactical (full-time) assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center. The base salary for this position is $27.50/hour which is $57,000 annually. This is an in-person position Monday-Friday located within Washington, DC and Cheltenham, MD. Candidates should be able to work shifts from 6 am to 2 pm and work at both DC and Cheltenham locations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise exercise areas
  • Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
  • Conduct personal fitness training sessions
  • Teach group fitness classes
  • Provide to membership weight loss based nutrition counseling and counseling regarding learning basic lifestyle changes or health coaching
  • Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
  • Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
  • Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
  • Explain all equipment
  • Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
  • Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
  • Adhere to clients policies and procedures
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
  • Perform daily administrative duties

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Health Promotion or Related Field
  • Active NCCA accredited National Fitness Certification - (ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT or AFAA or any other that is NCCA accredited)
  • NSCA Certified Strength and Condioning Specialist certification (CSCS), or NASM Tactical Strength and Condictioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) certification required
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in fitness assessments and training, personal coaching, and similar activities; a minimum of 6 months experience working with a tactical population such as law enforcement, military, fire/EMS.
  • Certified in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) for the Professional Rescuer; or equivalent
  • Must be a U.S. citizen as this is a government client location
  • Able to work full time, 5 days a week, in person, Monday-Friday from 6 am - 2 pm
