UPMC East Hospital is searching for a full-time Central Sterile Processing Technician to work evening shifts in the Sterile Department!
\nThis position will work primarily 2pm-10:30pm Monday-Friday. There is occasional weekend on-call time of about once every 5 weeks. This role is a perfect position for someone who wants a competitive wage, the fantastic benefits package of UPMC, a robust career ladder, and loves the behind-the-scenes work of a hospital. Experience in instrument sterilization is preferred, but we are willing to train. Scrub attire is supplied, so no cost for a uniform. All evening shifts will receive $1.10 more per hour added to your regular pay rate! \nThis position is eligible for a sign on bonus! For candidates with at least 2 years of sterile processing work experience, a sign-on bonus of $5,000 is available. This bonus will be paid out to you in a one-lump sum within your first 90 days and requires an agreement for you to remain full-time with UPMC for 2 years.
\nA Central Sterile Processing Technician performs those duties necessary for the proper decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution and documentation of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment according to established procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or required. In this department, you'll be trained to take and maintain a Sterile Processing certification. This certification is transferrable from organization to organization and recognized nation-wide. There are many opportunities for career advancement and growth in this department!

\n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Employees active in a Central Sterile position, on or before the effective date 12/27/2020, at a healthcare facility, are grandfathered regarding certification and will not need to obtain it unless they move into a different position that would require certification. Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification required in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded). New employees in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded) will have 18 months from date of hire to obtain required certification.
